The Dubuque Chorale Board has been actively monitoring developments related to the COVID-19 (coronovirus) pandemic. In accordance with guidance from the CDC and other authorities related to social distancing, and realizing that indoor choral rehearsals and performances are among the highest-risk activities for transmitting the virus, the Board has decided to cancel the Chorale’s live performances for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. The Board will continue to meet in the coming months to evaluate the situation and make plans for starting up again.

In the meantime, stay tuned to our website for updates, see below for some inspirational musical resources.

I have thought about so many of you these past 7 months, and I miss you and making music together. It is with a heavy heart that I share that we will not meet to rehearse or perform for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season.

You are too important to risk your health and further community spread to plan group singing at this time.

In the meantime, we have some distanced, safe activities in the works. This spring we will support the Dubuque Chorale Children’s Choir members, particularly those kids who are missing out on their last year in the group, with a virtual choir performance. These individual recordings will feature DCCC members and interested Dubuque Chorale members. We are also having a listening and podcast planning virtual party on November 11th. Stay tuned for full-choir and sectional virtual gatherings and/or informational messages.

The board is busy planning our 2021-2022 season, which will include our 50th anniversary performance. While the fall may feature more small groups, it is our hope that the spring will afford the opportunity to showcase those smaller groups in performance, as well as some larger works on the anniversary concert. Selections will be chosen from the rich history of chorale repertoire. Please reach out if you need anything. Perhaps in the coming months we can recommend some great music to sing from isolation, and some exercises to ensure we aren’t “too rusty” when we come back in August.
